Royal Power…..

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue

Or walk with kings—nor lose the common touch—Kipling

Those phases from Kipling's poem makes me think of power in an introspectively.  I think most people focus on outward displays of power.  It takes power to continuously work & stay focused when you are far from or fail at your goal.  The color for power is purple.

Cause Baby I’ve Got my Eye on You…..

Honeydew & I are taking the plunge and getting hitched this year.  Thinking outside the box I decided to create our rings.  I used his favorite stone: Tiger’s Eye. Tiger’s Eye is know to boost your health, spiritual, and mental well being.  I’ve got some great ideas rolling around my head for the wedding bands.

Wisdom brightens the Countenance……

Wisdom is defined as having experience, knowledge, and good judgment.  When most people think of wisdom they think of older people, because they have lived a long time and have experience & knowledge.  But if they don’t have good judgment they are don’t have wisdom.  I think it is essential to use wisdom to create a successful business or person.  The color for wisdom will be yellow, because it is so noticeable.  Like a summer day filled with sunshine!

Naturally Flyy Detroit Meet-up…..

When I first started my naturally hair journey I found great resources on blogs like:

bglhonline, curlynikki, lecoil, naurallyobsessed, kisforkinky ,lntks, and hairinspiration.  Then I found out about youtube and got hooked on kimmaytube, africanexports, Kinkycurlyqueen, whoissugar, longhairdon’tcare, glamazini, innovativethinking, prettydimples, BeautifulBrwnBabydoll, Summyr1988.  But now I have my local fix with Naturally Flyy Detroit!  I’ve missed the first couple of meet-up’s but the stars aligned and I made the 5th one with the Men’s roundtable.  It was awesome to see so many natural ladies under one roof and to feel the love & support.  I’m defiantly going to attend the next one.  More on that later!!!

Steadfast Love….

Love is so important to a business, especially when promoting your business.  When you are in love you are confident and it shows.  Your love for your business has to be conveyed to your audience.  Because if you don’t believe & love your product why should they.  The color pink is going to be my color for love.

Strength after Weakness…..

This month I am focusing on Strength.  When you prep for a big interview the experts tell you to be prepared to talk about your weakness and turn them into strengths.  Half the battle is identification, because you got to be honest during your self evaluation.  Then once you know what you working with you can make allowance for you weakness and still achieve your goal.  I choose green for my color for strength.  In the very beginning of Spring, little green shoots are breaking out of the ground. While the weather is still pretty cold and it might even snow a time or two before it’s consistently warmer.  Those shoots continue to grow and bud then we all notice all the green and declare Spring has Sprung.

Faith verses Failure….

I have Faith that my business will grow.  I will not accept Failure!  But I need to support my Faith with work.  Each month I am going to focus on an attribute that I think is essential to being a successful person, assign it a color, and create some jewelry that corresponds.  My color for Faith is blue.  One can believe anything is possible when you see blue skies!

After midnight Cinderella was transformed….

cinderella

Saturday I went to the Vanity Fashion Show @ the Max Fisher Theatre.  I got the chance to network with some designers & models and got a chance to meet the Detroit Blogger Ris.I thought the preshow vendor expo & the fashion show was great & definitely something I want to involved in next time around.  For my outfit I wanted to blend a Summer & Fall 2010 trend: Neutral & Lace.  I found this cute pale pink top, paired it with my lace leggings.  My accessories & hair prevented the look from being too prissy and gave me the perfect opportunity to try out my chain ear cuffs. I love the fact that even though I had lots of chains on the cuff they weren’t that heavy and I gave my poor earlobe a rest from the heavy earrings.  I working on more designs with Fall 2010 trends that will be available by the end of May. Even though I would love to look like this everyday its not appropriate for my day job so Monday morning is like Cinderella’s midnight curfew to me. Enjoy!DSC_0513 DSC_0516

Quest for Precious Gems…..

DSCN0107

Just got back from New York buying materials for my Midsummer & Fall 2010 collections.  I was going through the pics we took while walking around and I came across this pic my Honeydew secretly took of me probably out of sheer boredom. LOL! I’m in a turquoise phase right now but I did manage to stay focused and buy some of the things on my list. While shopping I ran into a native Detroiter Rayeshia who moved to NY and is a fellow jewelry designer! She was so nice and of course dressed to killed.  My inspiration for the midsummer collections is sand, sea, sunken treasure, & mermaids. Enjoy!

Time is an Albatross around my neck…

Last thursday I went thrifting after work & I got a call from my Honeydew about going out to watch the Cavaliers vs Celtics game.  As I hurried to the counter to pay for my goods I started thinking about what to wear.  Over the course of my 45 min drive I came up with a dozen possible color combos & outfits inspired by my shopping.  Of course Honeydew was waiting for me when I pulled up and ready to go and he didn’t look happy.  Apparently he had been waiting for me for 20 mins but I told him I needed to go inside for a second aka change clothes & jewelry which usually works.  But he wasn’t buying it and proceeded to rant about my tardiness and that it takes me to long to get ready, Nonsense.  However to keep peace I kept my work outfit on which too stiff for the bar. But it got me to thinking about my wardrobe & my process for getting dressed.  I think in color first, outfit second which can be time consuming then I thought about a impromptu date we went on and I was ready in 10 mins:

30032_674522968658_25706925_36341312_6536231_nIt was a white tee & jeggins and I threw on the blazer I had been wearing all week pumps & scarf and I was ready and we had a blast.  Neutral top, jeans, & colorful bold accessories will be my uniform for the summer.  This is what I’m wearing to work & to meet Honeydew for an early dinner.  Enjoy!

Spring oh Spring Where are you?????

I’ve been dreaming about spring since January and my dream hasn’t quite been realized yet.  A couple of times I thought I was going to have to break out the winter coat but I learned to layer creatively and to mix summer dresses with heavy sweaters. Now I find my self daydreaming about 80 degree weather, white sand beaches, seashells, and vintage romper.  On the jewelry designing front I have been drawn to statement pieces. Enjoy!

Spring 2010 Trends Inspirations…….

The February fashion magazines issues are my absolute favorite issues to buy! I caught a cold over the holiday so that gave me an excuse to lay around surrounded by  a ton of magazines undisturbed.  Here are my 3 fav spring 2010 trend shots:

“Pretty Wings, Pretty Wings…

Am I the only one who doesn't know what Maxwell is talking about in that song? Anyway, when I say pretty wings, i’m talking about butterflies!

006

The Butterflies are the 1st installment of my Winter Garden Collection. I came across these flat metal pieces in a couple of different shapes and I thought they were interesting so I bought them. Then I took them out the package and lost my creativity and they went to the bottom of my craft pile!  Last, night I was looking for something and I saw them and my idea came back to me and behold these beauties:

002   005

They are not in the store yet until I figure out 1st where I bought them & 2nd can I get some more. Enjoy!

“I’m in the mood for love…”

Yes, I'm a romantic and I can’t live with out movies & novels with a side or romance!  Last night I finished the first installment of my romance jewelry collection: Kiss Scene Part 1 Verse 2.

kissp1v2p It a pendant that reads: “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth for thy love is better than wine” in a bejeweled frame.  When I woke up this morning I was in a romantic mood so I dressed accordingly, with a look worthy of sightseeing in Paris. Enjoy!

Blessed are the pure in heart…….

I need that affirmation after last week everything that could go wrong went wrong!  Everything I created last week I hated, the materials I order were lost, my trusty tool broke, and another didn’t quite do the job.  But that’s all behind me now I’m starting a fresh week with the Pure in Heart set.  Enjoy!
